The Deschutes River Trail at Eagle Crest is a mile and half trail adjacent to the golf course and recreations areas of Eagle Crest Resort, which is in between Sisters and Redmond in Eastern Oregon. As the name suggests, the trail follows the Deschutes River for the majority of the hike, in a fairly wooded area.
The River Trail is a no brainer when staying at Eagle Crest Lodge, as we were when we took this hike. It is also open to the public and worth checking out if you will be anywhere near Sisters or Redmond. The Deschutes river is beautiful, even in the late Winter, when we went. There are numerous species of waterfowl to check out, as well as rafters and kayakers in the warmer months.
If you’ve never seen the Deschutes River before, this is a great way to do it. And a stay at the Eagle Crest Resort while you’re at it is even better!
